Seeing this picture brings back so many good memories of being young with young children, struggling to make ends meet and making sure your kids were well taken care of in the process. One of the greatest honors any parent can give to an adult is to entrust them with the care and nurturing of their child in their absence. Finding such a person is like adding a family member whose relationship can never be severed by time or distance, such was Debbie to my family. Her love and concern for my daughter Brianne has been felt over the years and I am eternally grateful for her and what she gave to my family

Everyone knows how to blog right? After all it’s the latest means of talking, so they say. That is of course if you happen to know how to blog in the first place. You have to have an idea what you’re fishing for and where to fish. Blogging the “Peeping Tom” party line of sorts available to you on the internet and don’t we all love it? No one has to know that “you looked” through that open window of that new blogger while she was pouring her heart out to an unseen world full of salt water fish, easy prey when you’re a fresh water fish swimming where you don’t belong. So the question is can salt water and fresh water fish live together? Mostly not for oil and vinegar do not mix. However there are a lot of good bloggers out there and as “fair fisherman” do they throw the smaller ones back? Not everyone knows how to blog, they may not know what they are doing right or wrong. It is a hit and miss kind of game some can play with their eyes close some have to work at it a little more. The first time I tried to blog I thought this is not for me and it was by a dare that I continued. Now I love it and enjoy the game but I have learned something too. Some blog like scrapbooking, others blog like writing, everyone is different with something to share. We are all fish, some fresh water not fully schooled and others deep salt fish those that can do anything. The idea is fish in groups are called schools...We learn in school and for some of us we are in school while we are blogging. Be kind and throw the small ones back…we are all gifted differently. You big fish out there, be a good fisherman, be kind while the rest of us little fish are still in schools.

Every chair will sit a person big or small each with hopes, dreams, fears and anticipation. Take a deep breath and say “I love you and your children”. “This is Marriage Second Time 001 with Kids”. Follow a few simple rules and you’re sure to get an “A” plus a happy ever after to go with it. Rule #1) it doesn’t matter who brought the children into this new union they come as a team, so be a team player. Ask any Monday Night Football player and they will tell you “we work as a team” there would not be Monday Night Football without a team. #2) love is thicker then blood, no one is born hating or disliking we are taught. Love is powerful because it is a tool and it can always be used. You can choose to like someone so much, that it turns into love while you’re not looking. Children have no say but whatever choices their parents’ make it will trickle down. Let the children be part of something wonderful, the two of you. Take them on outings, picnics, walks or to the park and just play. Develop the ground rules from the beginning be partners. In doing so means not taking sides and not fighting in front of them. It’s ok to disagree. United you stand divided you fall.

The Chicken Plucker (great story)

A DREAMER AND HIS DREAM

Let me tell you, Jesse hated this job. And you would too, I imagine, if you had to do it. Jesse was a chicken plucker. That's right.

He stood on a line in a chicken factory and spent his days pulling the feathers off dead chickens so the rest of us wouldn't have to. It wasn't much of a job.

But at the time, Jesse didn't think he was much of a person.

His father was a brute of a man.

His dad was actually thought to be mentally ill

and treated Jesse rough all of his life.

Jesse's older brother wasn't much better.

He was always picking on Jesse and beating him up.

Yes, Jesse grew up in a very rough home in West Virginia .

Life was anything but easy.And he thought life didn't hold much hope for him.

That's why he was standing in this chicken line, doing a job that darn few people wanted. In addition to all the rough treatment at home, it seems that Jesse was always sick. Sometimes it was real physical illness, but way too often it was all in his head. He was a small child, skinny and meek.

That sure didn't help the situation any.

When he started to school, he was the object of every bully on the

playground. He was a hypochondriac of the first order.

For Jesse, tomorrow was not always something to be looked forward to.

But, he had dreams.

He wanted to be a ventriloquist.

He found books on ventriloquism.

He practiced with sock puppets and saved his hard earned dollars until he could get a real ventriloquist dummy.

When he got old enough, he joined the military.

And even though many of his hypochondriac symptoms persisted, the military did recognize his talents and put him in the entertainment corp.

That was when his world changed.

He gained confidence.

He found that he had a talent for making people laugh, and laugh so hard they often had tears in their eyes.

Yes, little Jesse had found himself.

You know, folks, the history books are full of people who overcame a handicap to go on and make a success of themselves, but Jesse is one of the few I know of who didn't overcome it.

Instead he used his paranoia to make a million dollars, and become one of the best-loved characters of all time in doing it!

Yes, that little paranoid hypochondriac, who transferred his nervousness into a successful career, still holds the record for the most Emmys given in a single category.

If I had a Grandmother....................

There is nothing in the world more precious than the heart of a child. The purity of innocents as new and fresh white snow mixed with the determination of a strong carnal will, packaged with more energy in their little finger then a grandparent has in their whole body. Oh, to be able to bottle that stuff up to sale! Yet how very rich a grandparent already is even without the bottles. I am a grandmother, someone to make the memories, someone who bakes cookies and shares candy when no one is looking. Etched in my mind the visions of what a grandmother would have been if I had shared that experience as a child. A place to go where Christmas Trees "could be lit" all year long and candy canes flow everywhere. A happy place of sweet smells liked homemade bread, baked gingerbread and cinnamon rolls. Toy trucks and dolls stuffed inside the Christmas tree, toy trains on the tables and visions of glass candy jars with lids which made no noise. Maybe just a picture of my grandmother's kisses if I would have had one. I am a grandmother and in many sense of the word, another mother one who teaches and reads to the sweet innocent children that looks up to me. I don’t look down at them; I get down on one knee and look into their eyes. Things look different from their level; a sea of knees is what they see. I plan my legacy ahead of time while am able to see their faces and enthusiastic wide eyes of wonder. Yes my home is a Toyland, starting in November through January. With musical toys that move and sing all at knee high level, gum drops and canes fill the rooms. Toy trains and candy cane ribbons adorn the extra big table that even a child can sit at. I set out the good china and silverware everyone has a placemat with their name. The house turns into a magical place for children of all ages for I think I am the biggest one of all. And the saddest one too, the day everything goes back into the boxes for it’s my favorite time of year. I would keep each room of the house decorated with the innocents of children all year long just because I love the way it make me feel to see those faces which grow every year. If I would have a grandmother I hope she would have been one like I have imagined. For we come into this world naked dressed in innocent and it is that way we will leave for you can’t take your wealth and worldly goods with you. You only need the heart of a child and the faith that goes with it.

Building memories that last for a lifetime is a very important part of a childhood experience. As grandparents, we have chosen to take this part seriously and every year since our youngest grandsons have been born, we have dragged them off heading for the yearly Tractor Show. This means a breakfast out where can order anything thing they want (as long as they can eat it). Then trip down memory lane to see hundreds of old tractors and learn how these were a very important part of America’s history. From cutting wood to chucking corn, these wonderful machines are on display for one weekend a year. Steam engines that run with wood/coal burning stoves and though big as trains, they creep around the tractor show for hours giving rides and educating the public on years past.

I have spent the better part of my life devoted to securing a safe and natural environment of many children. It was through my own personal memories of unpleasant daycare experiences that I was able to drawback from. A first hand understanding of what it was like in someone else’s home unwanted personally but wanted financially. As a dollar bill in a wallet, I was in the care of a barefooted-stout woman with children of her own. Ironing other people’s clothes for coins, she would stand by the window overlooking the back yard where I spent most of the time. There was a large black belt hanging near the window where she stood. Though I do not remember her using it, there was a reason for its presence. As my mother would drive away early in the morning, I was placed outside while her children eat a warm breakfast inside. They did not have to be outside in the cold that early in the day. At lunchtime her children eat something different then “babysitting kids” for we received peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with water every day for lunch. It all does not sound like must now but I remembered ever moment of those few days I was in her care. She may not have been a bad person but I remember a question asked by my mother, “Well, what do you think”? In front of her, what was I to say? I did not know what to say, maybe if she had asked me that in private after the interview I would have told her what I really thought. As children, I believe that a lot of times, they will tell us what they think we want to hear and too afraid to say how they feel. I know there is a need out there for the working mother, put in a position to find someone to care for her children. Wisdom comes from the aged and the experienced. I hope this new blog serves as a tool as I continue to update material

Love is a gift one can share with each other. It can be in the form of a smile or a kind word even a cookie right out of the oven to a little child. Their little minds work differently then grown ups. It is the things they "don't remember" that will count later. Like the fights that they didn't have to listen too. The fear that was not there, when they find out what it is. They are at an age where we the grown ups can make a difference in a child's life and change who they may turn out to be. We are the ones that make that difference. Each child is a gift and it may not be your child but they are still a gift from God and they should be treated as such. Don't make bad memories. I can remember being very young and while the baby sitter's children where inside eating a warm meal we were outside when our momma drove away. peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with water everyday...while her children ate something different. I remember that and bringing my own lunch from home and having to set in another room to eat alone because of it. It took me 4o years to enjoy a peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ....That's the kind of babysitter I was not going to be...I was going to be the mother away form mother...the other mother and so I was.

Simple tips for interviewing a child care provider.............

So how do you know it's the right home for your child? Well coming from someone who knows....follow these simple tips. #1 Interview: Very important....not only are you interviewing her..but she is interviewing you, at least she should be. She needs to see if your child will fit in with "her family" or is all about the money?
Look around the house...is it neat or "too clean"...that's a red flag...and you should ask or wonder why. What I mean by "too clean" is this...... is there toys about the house? Evidence that children live there or stay there. If there is no evidence of children living there..then you need to re-think some things regrading your interview....where will your child be kept when your away? You can't have white carpet and watch children in your home...unless you have rules.. find out what those rules are. As a childcare provider for many years take my word for it...at the end of a long day...who puts all that equipment away? We don't! We clean it, ..stack it, move it but we don't remove it. If a home is in order, clean and homey that's great..it should be. If she can handle all those children and keep a clean and orderly home...she's a hard worker. #2 Is her heart into it? You know there are some people who are teachers..."for a living"..and they shouldn't be..because they don't even like kids, much less the time it takes to teach them. It's all about the money....the paycheck....and honestly your child is "the money" to some. Make sure you watch the first impression she has with your child, even a baby. Does she get on their eye level to speak to them? Does she talk "to" them or "at" them? You want the "other mother"....someone who will love your child and treat your child the same as her own while your away. Any thing less is unacceptable. #3 and #4 coming up soon.....

What a joy it is to have been part of something so wonderful...someone life. A young girl in the 2nd grade befriended my daughter so many years ago. She spent as much time as she could in our home and we loved her as own own. She was a wayward child with wild ideas, trouble sure should of claimed her. But because she felt like she belonged in a family that was not her own we never saw the wild side. I watched her grow from child to young teenager, then from teenager to a young woman....she always called me mom. Then one day we moved away....she fell in love and married and again came looking for our house where she felt so at home. She did, she found us in Missouri and made a three day drive to see us. Sadly that marriage did not last and she was very angry and was never going to have children, no not her...she didn't even like kids. To my surprise this young lady has gown up just fine, she put away her wild side and remarried a man who help to make her the woman she is today..a wonderful mommy to her own baby girl. She still calls me from time to time and yes I miss her too. She calls me her mom..Me? the lady that had the pool, the basketball court and all the kids. The home of the other mother...a childcare home where cookies were baked and broken heart healed. A place were teenagers wanted to live even though we had rules and said grace. A 2nd grade little girl from a troubled home took refuse in ours, a loving home and because she could , we made a difference in her life. That is what "The Other Mother" was....just the other mother. I have four children of my own and eight grandchildren to this day, I have many, many children that were in my care for all the years ...most of which I speak to today. They are grown ups with children of their own now. I am so blessed to have had those years.......and that time in my life counting. Our children count, they don't ask to be born and they can't pick out their families. There is no book you can read that tells you how to be a good mother or father. Children don't want to they have to go to a childcare, mom and dad have to work so there is no choice.....But you can make the choice to pick the right daycare for your child. I plan to post my ideas on that matter at another time.

I became a mother in 1973 and a proprietor of a licensed childcare facility in 1980. For 14 years while raising my own four children I was raising the children of others while they were at work....that’s how I got the name The Other Mother. Now a am grandmother of eight. The seasons of my life have taught me various things, like how enthusiastic children can be. Look into the eye's of this beautiful baby boy, he was a gift from God for I begged for his life as he was not planned. Now he is a blessing to all who see him. The next step is to find him a appropriate daycare. Like most families his mother must work to provide for him. This is choice is very important because he is learning a lot about life though the people that influenced him. All childcare facilities are not equal. Not to say they all are bad, this blog is a being redesigned to effectively deal with those issues. Your children are the most valuable investment you have, I hope my talents, experience and appropriate wisdom helps you to choose wisely. Remember in this game, there is no "do overs".

This is the saddest thing I have ever had to deal with..as with many. We all remember where we were that morning.....the day when we were under attack in our own country. This happened in my lifetime...am a baby boomer...my children saw it and my grandchildren saw it..not since Pearl Harbor has Americans been under just stress over real time war..not a X-Box game. Please never think we are safe and it is over. It is not, these pictures were taken in England not to long ago at a rally..they seem to have the same agenda. For the sake of families and our world as we know it...never forget 911. A lot of live's were lost...people died that didn't have to die that day, and over what? Be mad, Be angry! Be prepared! BE AN AMERICAN...Stand up for something.....we are all in this together and together we will fight and win. My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, 'Merry Christmas' to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a creche, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her 'How could God let something like this happen?' (regarding Hurricane Katrina).... Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, 'I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives.. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?'

In light of recent events... Terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill; thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves..

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

This is the woman? that removed GOD from my classroom as a child? I have never seen her this Madalyn Murray O'Hair...This woman changed so many things in my life..I remember the changes..I didn't understand...now as a grandmother....I really don't understand. How did she get away with it, in this country...the land of the free and the brave...WHAT HAPPENED? Where did we go wrong? Why didn't we see this stuff coming back then?....Then I think well....Let's see...There's Pearl Harbor... and there's 9-11....We can always look back and say "WHAT IF SHE DIDN'T GET AWAY WITH IT"..."WHAT IF"...THE RULES/LAWS NEVER CHANGED...Where would we all be now in this country if those changes in the 50's/60's never took place? Maybe it was best that I was a child, as a grown up, there's no way I wouldn't of stood up to this woman and her believes.......I have seen both sides of the fence and it was a better place back then, before she stepped all over the baby boomers. Look what she helped do to our childern and our childern's childern....What a shame this had to happen in the first place. Shame on us...for not saying something back then as "a people".

To the Guy Who Tried to Mug Me in Downtown Savannah night before last. Date: 07-27-09, 1:43 AM EST.
I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over,

shortly after you pulled the knife on my girlfriend, threatening our lives and me.
You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings.
I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.
First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment when I drew my pistol after you took my Jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason.
My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 A CP pistol for my birthday,

and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening.
Obviously you agree that it is a very Intimidating weapon when pointed at your head wasn't it?
I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from bare footed since I made you lea ve your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].
After I called your mother, or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as well as four other people's in the gas station on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful!
I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Goâ€™s, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]
I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... after I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car.
Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what's going on with that?
Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target. The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.).
In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... but I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider the career path you've chosen to pursue in life.

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money! twice.
Next to him was my old neighbor

It only takes a minute to read this....

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can
totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a
stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for
within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack
of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when
people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number
immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.
If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an
indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone READS this and remembers it.... you can
bet that at least one life will be saved.

You all remember Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona , who painted the jail cells pink and made the inmates wear pink prison garb. Well.........

SHERIFF JOE IS AT IT AGAIN!

Oh, there's MUCH more to know about Sheriff Joe!

Maricopa County was spending approx. $18 million dollars a year on stray animals, like cats and dogs. Sheriff Joe offered to take the department over, and the County Supervisors said okay.

The animal shelters are now all staffed and operated by prisoners. They feed and care for the strays. Every animal in his care is taken out and walked twice daily. He now has prisoners who are experts in animal nutrition and behavior. They give great classes for anyone who'd like to adopt an animal. He has literally taken stray dogs off the street, given them to the care of prisoners, and had them place in dog shows.

The best part? His budget for the entire department is now under $3 million. Teresa and I adopted a Weimaraner from a Maricopa County shelter two years ago. He was neutered, and current on all shots, in great health, and even had a microchip inserted the day we got him. Cost us $78.

The prisoners get the benefit of about $0.28 an hour for working, but most would work for free, just to be out of their cells for the day. Most of his budget is for utilities, building maintenance, etc. He pays the prisoners out of the fees collected for adopted animals.

I have long wondered when the rest of the country would take a look at the way he runs the jail system, and copy some of his ideas. He has a huge farm, donated to the county years ago, where inmates can work, and they grow most of their own fresh vegetables and food, doing all the work and harvesting by hand.

He has a pretty good sized hog farm, which provides meat, and fertilizer. It fertilizes the Christmas tree nursery, where prisoners work, and you can buy a living Christmas tree for $6 - $8 for the Holidays, and plant it later. We have six trees in our yard from the Prison.

Yup, he was re-elected last year with 83% of the vote.
Now he's in trouble with the ACLU again. He painted all his buses and vehicles with a mural, that has a special hotline phone number painted on it, where you can call and report suspected illegal aliens. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement wasn't doing enough in his eyes, so he had 40 deputies trained specifically for enforcing immigration laws, started up his hotline, and bought 4 new buses just for hauling folks back to the border. He's kind of a 'Git-R Dun' kind of Sheriff.

AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER

He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights Cut off all but 'G' movies.

He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects.

Then He Started Chain Gangs For Women So He Wouldn't Get
Sued For Discrimination.

He took away cable TV Until he found out there was A Federal Court Order that Required Cable TV For Jails So He Hooked Up The Cable TV Again Only Let In The Disney Channel And The Weather Channel.

When asked why the weather channel He Replied, So They Will Know How Hot It's Gonna Be While They Are Working
ON My Chain Gangs.

He Cut Off Coffee Since It Has Zero Nutritional Value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, 'This Isn't The Ritz/Carlton......If You Don't Like It, Don't Come Back.'

Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves.

This is not a Joke! This is a Warning for all parents / grandparents!!!
(THIS IS NOT MY DAUGHTER BUT SOMEONE WHO SHARED THIS IMFORMATION WITH ME)

Liquid hand sanitizer can be extremely dangerous for toddlers and small children!

Yesterday, my youngest daughter, Halle who is just 4 years old, was

rushed to the ER by her father for being severely lethargic and incoherent in her

classroom. He was called to her school by the school secretary who said

that she was 'VERY, VERY SICK'!

He told me that when he arrived at her classroom, Halle was barely sitting in the

chair. She couldn't hold her own head up and when he looked into her eyes,

she couldn't focus them.

He immediately scooped her up and rushed her to the closest ER, and

then called me. When he got there, they ran blood test after blood test and did

x-rays, every test imaginable. Her white blood cell count was normal, nothing

was out of the ordinary. When I arrived at the ER, the doctor there told

us that he had done everything that he could do so he was transferring her to Saint Francis Hospital for further tests.

Right as we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher arrived at the ER and told

us that after questioning Halle 's classmates, She had found out that our little girl had licked liquid hand sanitizer off of her hands !!!

Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it makes sense. These days they have all

kinds of different scents and flavors and when you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things into their mouths.

When we arrived at the Saint Francis' Hospital ER, we told the ER Doctor there

to check her blood alcohol level, and yes we did get weird looks, but they did it.

The results showed her blood alcohol level was 85% -- six hours after we first took her.. There's no telling what it would have been if we would have requested it at the first ER. Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken the liquid hand sanitizers

out of all the lower grade classes, but what's to stop middle and high schoolers from ingesting this stuff?

After doing research on the Internet, we found out that it only takes about

3 squirts of the stuff ingested to be fatal to a toddler.

For her blood alcohol level to be so high, it would be like someone her size drinking120 proof liquor.

So PLEASE PLEASE don't disregard this because we don't ever want another family to go through what ours has gone

through.

Please send this to everyone you know that have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews or cousins.

It doesn't matter what age. This could affect anyone of them

HOORAY, HOORAY, HOORAY for Andy Rooney. I myself have been grumbling and wondering how a handful of people have been able to take our right to pray in public places away from us. So, agreeing with Andy.

Folks, this is the month that we RE-TAKE AMERICA !
Andy Rooney says:

I don't believe in Santa Claus, but I'm not going to sue somebody for singing a Ho-Ho-Ho song in December. I don't agree with Darwin , but I didn't go out and hire a lawyer when my high school teacher taught the Theory of Evolution.
Life, liberty, or your pursuit of happiness will not be endangered because someone says a 30-second prayer before a football game. So what's the big deal? It's not like somebody is up there reading the entire Book of Acts. They're just talking to a God they believe in and asking him to grant safety to the players on the field and the fans going home from the game.
But it's a Christian prayer, some will argue.
Yes, and this is the United States of America , a country founded on Christian principles. According to our very own phone book, Christian churches outnumber all others better than 200-to-1. So what would you expect-- somebody chanting Hare Krishna?
If I went to a football game in Jerusalem , I would expect to hear a Jewish prayer.

If I went to a soccer game in Baghdad , I would expect to hear a Muslim prayer.

If I went to a ping pong match in China , I would expect to hear someone pray to Buddha.

And I wouldn't be offended. It wouldn't bother me one bit.

When in Rome . . .

But what about the atheists? Another argument. What about them? Nobody is asking them to be baptized. We're not going to pass the collection plate. Just humor us for 30 seconds. If that's asking too much, bring a Walkman or a pair of ear plugs. Go to the bathroom. Visit the concession stand. Call your lawyer!

Unfortunately, one or two will make that call. One or two will tell thousands what they can and cannot do. I don't think a short prayer at a football game is going to shake the world's foundations.

Christians are just sick and tired of turning the other cheek while our courts strip us of all our rights. Our parents and grandparents taught us to pray before eating, to pray before we go to sleep. Our Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. Now a handful of people and their lawyers are telling us to cease praying.
God, help us! And if that last sentence offends you--well, just sue me.
The silent majority has been silent too long. It's time we tell that one or two who scream loud enough to be heard that the vast majority doesn't care what they want. It is time that the majority rules!
It's time we tell them: you don't have to pray; you don't have to say the Pledge of Allegiance; you don't have to believe in God or attend services that honor Him. That is your right, and we will honor your right; but, by golly, you are no longer going to take our rights away. We are fighting back, and we WILL WIN!
God bless us one and all--especially those who denounce Him.

God bless America, despite all her faults. She is still the greatest nation of all.

Have you ever noticed girls who set their handbags on public toilet floors, then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table?
It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes 'what you don't know will hurt you'!
Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been.
It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day.
We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag.
Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared.
Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty.
It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.
Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.
In one sampling, four of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. 'There is fecal contamination on the handbags' says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role. People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.
The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. 'Some type of feces, or possibly
vomit' says Amy.
So the moral of this story is that your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen countertop.
Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. 'If you think about putting a pair of shoes on your countertops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the countertops.'
Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have walked, sat, sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc!
Do you really want to bring that home with you?
The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags.

Harry Truman

Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence Missouri . His wife had inherited The house from her mother and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

When he retired from office in 1952, his income was a U.S.Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year..

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food.

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale. (sic. Illinois )

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!"

The average age of the military man is 19 years. He is a short haired, tight-muscled kid who, under normal circumstances is considered by society as half man, half boy. Not yet dry behind the ears, not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to die for his country. He never really cared much for work and he would rather wax his own car than wash his father's, but he has never collected unemployment either.
He's a recent High School graduate; he was probably an average student, pursued some form of sport activities, drives a ten year old jalopy, and has a steady girlfriend that either broke up with him when he left, or swears to be waiting when he returns from half a world away. He listens to rock and roll or hip-hop or rap or jazz or swing and a 155mm howitzer.
He is 10 or 15 pounds lighter now than when he was at home because he is working or fighting from before dawn to well after dusk. He has trouble spelling, thus letter writing is a pain for him, but he can field strip a rifle in 30 seconds and reassemble it in less time in the dark. He can recite to you the nomenclature of a machine gun or grenade launcher and use either one effectively if he must.
He digs foxholes and latrines and can apply first aid like a professional.
He can march until he is told to stop, or stop until he is told to march.
He obeys orders instantly and without hesitation, but he is not without spirit or individual dignity. He is self-sufficient.
He has two sets of fatigues: he washes one and wears the other. He keeps his canteens full and his feet dry.
He sometimes forgets to brush his teeth, but never to clean his rifle. He can cook his own meals, mend his own clothes, and fix his own hurts.
If you're thirsty, he'll share his water with you; if you are hungry, his food. He'll even split his ammunition with you in the midst of battle when you run low.
He has learned to use his hands like weapons and weapons like they were his hands.
He can save your life - or take it, because that is his job.
He will often do twice the work of a civilian, draw half the pay, and still find ironic humor in it all.
He has seen more suffering and death than he should have in his short lifetime.
He has wept in public and in private, for friends who have fallen in combat and is unashamed.
He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking.
In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.
Just as did his Father, Grandfather, and Great- grandfather, he is paying the price for our freedom. Beardless or not, he is not a boy. He is the American Fighting Man that has kept this country free for over 200 years.
He has asked nothing in return, except our friendship and understanding. Remember him, always, for he has earned our respect and admiration with his blood.
And now we even have women over there in danger, doing their part in this tradition of going to War when our nation calls us to do so.
As you go to bed tonight, remember this shot. . .
A short lull, a little shade and a picture of loved ones in their helmets.

This is one of the nicest e-mails I have seen and is so true:

I dreamt that I went to Heaven and an angel was showing me around. We walked side-by-side inside a large workroom filled with angels. My angel guide stopped in front of the first section and said, "This is the Receiving Section. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received."

I looked around in this area, and it was terribly busy with so many angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world.

Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached the second section.

The angel then said to me, "This is the Packaging and Delivery Section. Here, the graces and blessings the people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them." I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to Earth.

Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. "This is the Acknowledgment Section," my angel friend quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed "How is it that there is no work going on here?" I asked.

"So sad," the angel sighed. "After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments ."

"How does one acknowledge God's blessings?" I asked.

"Simple," the angel answered. Just say, "Thank you, Lord."

"What blessings should they acknowledge?" I asked.

"If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy ."

"And if you get this on your own computer, you are part of the 1% in the world who has that opportunity."

I really lreaned something this weekend. The love and kindness that was shared by the Jewish committee in St. Louis was over and be on the call of duty. I had a wonderful time as I learned their laws and traditions. I had never been in a Jewish temple or a Jewish wedding. It was so much fun and touching to my heart. My eyes leaked the whole day. People, all people need to see things the through eyes of love, compassion and understanding, even if it is not what you understand things to be. I took back with me so much more then I when what I came in with. Thank you for being so kind to our Christian family and friends, as we all came together and blended for those two kids, getting married and very much in love, they need the love and understanding... and "that make a family". May we all learn from one another as long as we all shall live.

The massacre of April 20,1914 my family was there....

My father was born 1924, to 15 year old girl. Her name was Dessie, she didn’t want one baby much less two, and here she was, 15 and blessed with twins a boy and girl. The twins lost their mother from pneumonia when they were seven. However, they were living with their grandmother Hattie for many years prior to their mother’s death. Grandmother Hattie had a total of seven children of her own, three sadly, died. The oldest child was named Marie, then there were her three sons. The second born son was Adam Frank Jr. my grandfather. He was very much like a gypsy of sorts, maybe a touch of hobo. He would take off from time to time, like a wild mustang, hitching rides on freight trains that lead to no where and played pool for money like a shark in a pond of fish. This is how he met Dessie, my grandmother, they ended up married but just two babies themselves and way too young. Out of Hattie's four children, Frank Jr. was the only one who could drive the family car. Hattie, spent many nights, awaiting wild young Frank's return, she could hear him driving the car over the creaky old wooden bridge down by their house there in the country. He was not exactly the responsible one in the family and that was such a shame. His brother Russell however, was quite responsible and the intellectual type. Russell could remembered everything. He kept records and it is through these records, I am was able to retrieve this information. Adam Frank Sr. Supported his family by working in the coal mines of Colorado for many years. The family was there during the time of the great massacre in 1914. Uncle Russell’s records show how there were two types of mines, in southern Colorado. The pit mines, that went straight down by way of a (elevator) cage, with entries at different levels. Everything had to go down in that cable( elevator), men, Coal-cars, mules and air equipment. The only way out was in that cage. If there was an Gas explosion or if a Digger hit an underground river, the cage was the only way out for all those men. Then there was the slope mines, they went into the ground at an angle, a hole facing the east lead a "trip" which was a "string of cars" that went down into the mine by gravity. Then they had to pull it back up when they were loaded. Not an easy job, but it was a little safer than a pit mines. The Miners all had certain Jobs. There was the Coal diggers, who spent 95% of the day digging coal. Then there was the Shot firers, who spent 4% of the time firing charges at the end of day and there was the sraggers who spent 1% of the day stopping coal-cars. The most important job was a "Fire-Boss" Only one man held this position,that was my great grandfather Adam Frank Smith Sr. There were many jobs above the ground,like a mine foremen, a camp superintendent, a camp nurse, the weight master, slag pickers and the hoist men. It was in the late 1907 when the Smith family moved Pueblo Colorado. In 1910 and the family had to move back to Johnstown, Pennsylvania where Uncle Russell was born. Eventually the family moved once again to Colorado. This time it was for work at Berwind, which was one of the largest mining camp. There was many mining camp and they're all owned by the Colorado fuel and iron company who also owned the steel mills in Pablo and the Colorado Supply Company stores. These were the only stores aloud in all the mining camps. There were 22 stores in this one big camp. The Miners would call them the "pluck me stores". These stores made a huge profit off the miners income. The miners and their wives were notified their jobs were always depended upon them buying their supplies from the company's stores. The C F and D. This was a huge monopoly and the company had total control over everything south of a Pueblo to the New Mexico border.Owned by The Rockefellers.The isolation of each camp added to the bewilderment of most of the Miners, and during this time period things got out of control. Records show that from 1913 through 1914 a big strike was formed. There were sub-zero temperatures during the winter and all the ousted-strikers’ were living in big tent Colonies . One of the tent Colonies was established at Ludlow, it was one canyon north, which was 2 miles outside of Burn wind canyon. All the camps were mostly made up into two campus, the 12 other Colonies were all in tents. These were built at various locations but the one at Lablow became a focal point of the 1913-1914 strike. This is where the massacre occurred on April 20, 1914. When the Stalemilitia and their goons killed 21 people including 11 children. After that, the camp put up searchlights during the strike period. They were usually mounted on a water tank or hilltop directly above the camp. The company guards were then able to move the searchlights while at the same time protect the water supply for the mine's operation. My family lived just a few miles away, where the fighting occurred in camps. My uncle Russell had faint memories of men lying on the floor with children to escape the flying bullets through the tents. My aunt Marie, Russell’s sister would take her brother Russell to school, she was teaching kindergarten the camp at the time. One night, there was a murder inside the school. This canyon was surrounded by tall pine trees and several houses that were on top of the hill. Uncle Russell remembers as a small boy, peaking into a window because there was reported to be a dead body inside. Sure enough, there was a dead man's body lying on the bed. Covered with a sheet the head and feet were exposed. There was a officer trying a tag on his toe. Berwind canyon was a place of fear to the everybody. The canyon had sunlight only a few hours during the day due to the high hills and pine trees. At night only a few lights were on, usually just at the miner's entrances. The whole camp was covered in a of darkness. Dawn was always welcome. Winters seemed so long, summers seemed so hot. Everyone was always afraid. So when the strike was over, it was a good time. The CF&I helped overcome their reputation earned by their methods, they built a club house in each camp starting in 1915 (the strike was from Sept. 23, 1913 to Dec.23,1914 then they were turned it over to the YMCA to manage with stipulation that they had to pay for themselves (no cost to The Rockefellers company). The club house at Ideal was(typical) it had in the basement a 2 lane bowling lanes, three pool tables two card tables and a small gym. The main floor had a reading room, soda fountain large lounge no liquor, just a place to sit and talk. An auditorium where they had movies every Tuesday and Friday nights. Through Berwind mines was one of the biggest mining camps it had no Protestant church until the protestant women began to solicit money in 1922 owned by The Rockefellers Colorado Fuel and Iron Co. Who also owned the Steel Mills in Pueblo. Eventually they build one with no help from CF&I Co. The Catholics had built one about 1918 also without help. In 1916 the Smith family moved to Walsen, another camp, it wasn't in a canyon. The children felt to free to play there. They had a clubhouse. Main thing for the children they could actually make friends. For them it was like moving to the city, they were one mile from Walsenburg. But it was simply another camp. It did have two theaters, restaurants, a paved street and a high school. There were several saloons, churches and even had other stores there besides Colorado Supply Company. Instead of the tents the children actually had a four room house new and it was a company house. They had a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms, it had a back stoop and a front porch. A big yard fenced to keep out coyotes, rabbits and deer. A chicken coop with a fenced yard, a coal shed and an out house. It even had a 12X12 seller under the kitchen with cement floor and walls outside the entrance. No drains. This was my family's favorite place, as children. Most of the Italian, Salvadorian and Mexican families would buy 1 to 3 tons of grapes each autumn. Then they would pay the children a dime to stomp on the grapes repairing them to make wine. They really watched their feet before they're allowed to trample the grapes. It took about five boys to the seller for about 3 hours. The leaves, stems and pulp wept after the duo's was bailed, out in it was taken out of the camp and buried in the ground to prevent the cows from eating it. Because all the children believed the cows would get drunk and give purple milk. All the children in all the camps did this. Walsen camp had one thing that all the other camps did not have, a power house. Using the coal from Walsen two mines, which made electivity all the camps Marie married a man that worked there and moved to Springer, New Mexico to make their fortune. They came back, Marie may have been home sick. But now they had to come back to the Walsen mines and the CF&I. They had a real school house there, small but it had at battery and a bell. The first teacher there Miss. Babcock who wore riding boots. She also had a long buggy whip which she flicked at their heels. Grandfather Frank Sr. was a source of knowledge for his children.He was a understanding man and very precise. My great grandparents always lived in harmony together. Uncle Russell felt his father had a great influence in his life, he prepare him for the outside world. Every time Russell and his father would into the mines, He’d let him hold the safety lamp. Alone in a mine they wander for more then a mile down into the earth. It was damp and dark. The sounds of dripping water would be there. Each time the earth would move, some things shifted, a crash as a piece of the roof falls onto the ground. A scurry of rats came running, the sound of a cat. The swishing of air being pumped in to very bottle of the mine,two methods of ventilation. The safety lamp gave a dim light, it’s purpose, to sense methane gas if they came upon a black lamp. When this would occur, the Fire Boss would have to relocate and relight the lamp and get out of there. Phones were located around the route, he would call the mine company along with the location and route. Years ago they used canaries to hunt for gas, many birds gave their lives to save the life of one man. There was a peaceful side of these camps, it was a community. There were all countries there, people from Poland, Yugoslavia, Montenegro, Latvia, Germany, Wales, Slovenia, Italy, America and Mexico all had a common desire, to live in peace. They didn’t lock their doors and the children would go all over the place smelling food cooking of all those nations. Each child was welcome in any home, most kids ate more then on meal. They picked and chose cordoning to their nose and enjoyed very bit of it. One day Grandpa Adam Frank Sr. said it was time to leave the mines, for good. So they packed up and move to Denver, Colorado. The big city. There is more to this story but the important part of it is there is records of the massacre of April 20, 1914. When the Stalemilitia and their goons killed 21 people including 11 children who
lost their lives‘. people were digging holes in the dirt floors of their tents and laying the women and children inside while the men laid on top to shield their love ones from the gun shots. Some tents were set on fire with people inside. My Great uncle Russell was there as a boy, he wrote things down and kept records.
The Rockefellers owned the CF&I. and they were the reason for these deaths in America’s coal mines. Something no one should ever forget…it’s history, look it up. My Uncle kept records.

This will boggle your mind; I know it did mine!
The year is 1909.
One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some statistics for the Year 1909

The average life expectancy was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes had a bathtub.

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

There were only 8,000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in 1909 was 22 cents per hour.

The average worker made between $200 and $400 per year.

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year,
A dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.

More than 95 percent of all births took place at HOME!

Ninety percent of all doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!!
Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press & the government as 'substandard.'

Sugar cost four cents a pound.

Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.

Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used Borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason.

Five leading causes of death were:

1. Pneumonia and influenza

( Shocking? DUH! )

Eighteen percent of households had at least one full-time servant or domestic helper.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE ! U.S.A.!!
